I have a degree in Physical Therapy from Florida International University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology & Cell Science with a Minor in Chemistry from the University of Florida. I have extensive physical therapy experience. I started my career at Shands Hospital and have worked in various rehabilitation settings including outpatient sports medicine and orthopedics, neuro rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, aquatic therapy, wound care, burn units, spinal cord rehabilitation, neonatal and pediatrics, women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation, geriatrics, as well as acute care, home health, and skilled nursing facilities.
I have experience working with all types of orthopedic, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, injuries, and post surgery recovery, spinal injuries, balance and vestibular disorders, TMJ dysfunction, and have training in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis Therapy for treatment to the cervical and lumbar spine and extremities. I have a special interest in working with athletes of all ages and levels. I have worked alongside and rehabilitated professional athletes with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Storm, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees Minor League AA team, and women's professional tennis players including those who have gone on to win several Grand Slams and Olympic medals.
I have the skill set and knowledge to design and implement adaptive exercise programs. I have been most passionate about working with people with disabilities to restore function, promote their ability to move, reduce pain, and prevent loss of mobility by developing individualized fitness and wellness oriented programs to achieve their own personal goals in returning to their maximum level of function.
I have also held leadership and managerial positions throughout my physical therapy career where I was the Director of all HealthSouth facilities in Brandon, Florida. In addition to my passion for helping individuals achieve their goals and return to function, I am an advocate for promoting overall health, wellness, and fitness. I love spending time with my family, traveling, and working out at Crossfit Aero where I have been a member for almost 5 years!
Fun fact: I was featured in Muscle and Fitness Hers Magazine and other fitness publications.
