ABOUT ELLAINE

I have a degree in Physical Therapy from Florida International University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology & Cell Science with a Minor in Chemistry from the University of Florida. I started my career at Shands Hospital and have worked in various rehabilitation settings including outpatient sports medicine and orthopedics, neuro rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, aquatic therapy, wound care, burn units, spinal cord rehabilitation, neonatal and pediatrics, women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation, geriatrics, as well as acute care, home health, and skilled nursing facilities.

I have experience working with all types of orthopedic, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, injuries, and post surgery recovery, spinal injuries, balance and vestibular disorders, TMJ dysfunction, and have training in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis Therapy for treatment to the cervical and lumbar spine and extremities. I have a special interest in working with athletes of all ages and levels. A highlight of my career was working alongside and rehabilitating professional athletes with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Storm, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees Minor League AA team, and women's professional tennis players including those who have gone on to win several Grand Slams and Olympic medals. I have also held leadership and managerial positions throughout my physical therapy career where I was the Director of all HealthSouth facilities in Brandon, Florida.

Throughout my career I have been most passionate about working with people with disabilities to restore function, promote their ability to move, reduce pain, and prevent loss of mobility to help them achieve their own personal goals in returning to their maximum level of function. This passion has led me and the gym owners to implementing and pioneering an Adaptive CrossFit Program right here at CrossFit Aero where our mission is to reach as many people in our local community regardless of their Ability, Disability, Age, Race, and Gender. It truly has been a perfect fit!

My goal as a CrossFit Physical Therapist and Coach is to provide athletes with the tools they need to understand how their bodies can perform better during their workouts and to prevent injury in a safe, fun, encouraging environment. I love to educate athletes and I am a big advocate for promoting overall health, wellness, and fitness for everyone!

I am truly blessed to have two beautiful and loving daughters who are also adventurous, as we do love to travel! Spending time with my family is everything to me. CrossFit Aero and all that it encompasses has been my extended family for almost 5 years now!

Fun fact: I was featured in Muscle and Fitness Hers Magazine and other fitness publications.
